disSemination
Since our earliest days, we’ve created hundreds of resources especially for detainees and the healthcare professionals who care for them. We have books, patient information leaflets (PILs), professional informational leaflets (PrILs), videos and more.
Now we are in the process of updating and uploading this archive - in English and…
Translation
English may be the most international language but it is incomprehensible to many healthcare professionals and the majority of the world's detainees. And so, as part of our mandate to improve international offender healthcare, we are embarking upon an open-ended project to translate our resources into as many languages as possible.
Professional resources
It is thought that the vast majority of the world’s doctors understand Arabic, English, French, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish. And so we are aiming to translate our professional resources into these tongues at the very least. Sometimes though we are aiming outside of these languages for particular projects.
Patient resources
However, although many patients understand one of these seven tongues, there is nothing like reading or hearing health information in your mother tongue. And so we are aiming far higher when it comes to translating PILs.
Translators
We welcome expressions of interest from linguistically-gifted volunteers.
