Board of Reference

First established in 2015, the Board of Reference is our specialist advisory group.

purpose

The board never meets as a whole. Instead, we call on individual members as and when we require specialist advice about an particular patient, situation or policy.

Confidentiality

Whilst the below members are happy to be identified, others work in restricted positions or live in sensitive parts of the world and so we withhold their identity.

Dr Nandi Mnyama
MBBS

A member of our UK Board of Directors, Nandi was born in Zimbabwe. She has lived experience of the asylum and refugee system.

Asylum Seekers & Refugees and Homeless People

Dr Jim Newmark

A family medicine specialist in England, Jim works in a specialist practice majoring on the care of asylum seekers & refugees and other vulnerable patient groups including homeless people.

Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Miss Zoe Pickering

A member of our staff, Zoe has lived experience of Asperger Syndrome, a condition on the autistic spectrum.

Burns, Cleft lip & palate, Worms and Wounds

Nursing Sister Valerie ‘Val’ Smith-Orr

One of our long-term volunteers, Val also leads Triple B Care Projects, a Philippines-based NGO dedicated to the care of children’s burns, cleft lips & palates and worm infestations.

Clinical Genetics, Medico-Politics, Paediatrics and Research

Dr Melody Redman

A member of our UK Board of Directors, Melody is a clinical geneticist with a background in paediatrics. She is also a seasoned researcher and medico-politician.
