Here’s a non-exhaustive list of training events that are relevant to our work.
The small minority are internal events (I) that we are running ourselves. The majority are external events (E) that we recommend, may well be participating in as fellow delegates, and perhaps even supplying with a speaker.
Some are in-person (IP), many are virtual (V), and still others are hybrid (H).
Weekly
ICMDA webinars (E, V)
Every Thursday. The International Christian Medical and Dental Association (ICMDA) is the worldwide umbrella group for national Christian Medical Fellowships (CMFs). It puts on a rolling series of webinars on a wide range of topics, many of which are highly relevant to our work. Register to attend them live and so have the opportunity to ask questions, or look through the archive and watch at your convenience.

CMF Global training modules (E, V)
2nd Tuesday of every month. UK Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) puts on a rolling series of webinars for healthcare professionals interested in providing both generalist and specialist healthcare with limited resources in a rural context. Register to attend them live.
Quarterly
Secure Environments Group Special Interest Group (I+E, V)
Standing date to be confirmed. Run in partnership with ICMDA, these meetings promote engagement with the vulnerable community of detainees held within the world's secure environments.

CMF Student Conference (E, IP)
Select: knowing WHO you really are
30th January - 1st February. We have strong links with CMF, including the fact that about half of our elective students are members. Its student conference is an annual highlight and is always a great opportunity for meet like-minded healthcare students with a heart for medical mission.
Planning your medical elective (E, V)
9th March. Join CMF for an evening of insight dedicated to helping you plan your medical elective. This event will feature hosts who will share their own elective experiences, provide valuable advice, and answer any questions you may have.
FFLM 19th Annual Conference (E, IP)
The Anatomy of a Case: From Causes to Rehabilitation
8th - 9th May. This two‑day event will bring together expert speakers and valuable networking opportunities with colleagues across the field. The theme will explore how forensic medicine and the legal process intersect, viewed through the lenses of clinicians, victims, offenders, and the wider justice community.
CMF National Conference (E, IP)
JOY in ALL circumstances
8th - 10th May. CMF’s National Conference is for Christian healthcare professionals at all stages of life.
This year, our CMO Rachael Pickering will be giving a seminar on Rx justice:
What does it mean to be just? We might welcome waifs and strays at our church door, recite biblical justice verses like Micah 6:8, and donate to the Salvation Army's Christmas appeal. But what about at work? How do we act justly, love mercy and walk the wards humbly with our God? This seminar explores the many ways that we Christian HCPs can prescribe justice.
European Association of Palliative Care 20th World Congress (E, IP)
Palliative Care Research: From strong foundations to new horizons
14th - 16th May. The European Association of Palliative Care (EAPC) promotes high standards of palliative care internationally, not just within Europe.
There will be a meeting of the Palliative Care for People in Prison task force, which is co-chaired by our CMO Rachael Pickering.
ICMDA World Congress (E, IP)
Building God’s Kingdom amongst the Broken
30th June - 5th July. ICMDA’s world congress is a four-yearly event, this time being held on Jeju Island, South Korea.
This year our co-founders, Mark and Rachael Pickering, will be giving a seminar on secure environments - holistic care behind bars.
18th World Congress in Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law (E, IP)
28th - 30th September. This regular conference, organised by the International Chair in Bioethics in cooperation with the World Medical Association, features plenty of research relevant to the care of vulnerable patient groups including detainees.
This year it is being held in Porto, Portugal. There is also the opportunity to submit abstracts for posters and oral presentations, and many of our researchers and trainees have presented there over the years.
CMF Global Track (E, H)
September 2026 - March 2028. This periodic 18 month training track is for CMF members who wish to explore their role in global health and mission.
Medical Review Auschwitz (E, IP)
7th International Conference: Medicine Behind the Barbed Wire
6th - 8th October. This annual international conference aims to educate the world’s medical community about medical ethics and practice in the context of the Second World War.
It is held at the University of Krakow, Poland and always includes a highly instructive, bespoke medical tour of Auschwitz Concentration Camp. There is also the opportunity to submit abstracts for oral presentations.
13th Health & Justice Summit (E, IP)
Title TBC
Xth - Xth October - exact dates and location TBC. This annual UK conference is organised by the Royal College of General Practitioners’ Secure Environments Group. It is entirely dedicated to the interface between health and justice.
There is also the opportunity to submit abstracts for posters and oral presentations.
