Alumni
Hundreds of people have directly contributed to our work since we started out in 2012. Here are just a few of them, and the dates they moved on to pastures new…
2025
Mam Amelia ‘Amy’ & Sir Nestor Gatos
Mam Amy came to us as live-in housekeeper in early 2022, as soon as pandemic restrictions eased enough to allow her to move house. She brought her husband Sir Nestor and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Geraldine. Mam Amy’s housekeeping and catering skills quickly became legendary. And Sir Nestor helped out whenever he could. Geraldine became a firm favourite with Cattuchino, our resident cockroach catcher. She retired in January 2025 - as housekeeping is hard physical work. She and her family have returned to live in their family plot in Twelfth Street, Olongapo. Hopefully we will be able to continue using her now and again for lighter pieces of work. But regardless, we thank them - especially Mam Amy - for their service, and wish them well.
2024
Mam Luisa ‘Loy’ Napalan & Sir Paulito ‘Papi’ Napalan
Mam Loy and Sir Papi came to us in September 2019 when their previous employer, Helping Hands Healing Hearts, left Olongapo to concentrate their services in Baguio. Mam Loy became our services manager and Sir Papi took on the role of estates manager. We enjoyed their upbeat partnership for five years until April 2024 when they went on a well-earned three month period of unpaid leave to Australia. Upon their return, Sir Papi took his scheduled retirement, and Mam Loy resigned in order to concentrate on her family - caring for her mother in Australia and enjoying her soon-to-be elevation to the status of grandmother! We thank them both for their service and wish them well. Later in the year, Sir Papi relinquished his role of staff representative on our Philippines board.
Mam Amelia ‘Mamie A’ Magtaas
Mamie A came to us at Easter 2023 as part-time book-keeper. She worked with Mam Loy in the office. And we enjoyed her contribution to our team. But her health and other commitments took their toll and so she decided to concentrate on home book-keeping from Easter 2024. We thank her for her service and are grateful that she continues on our Philippines board.
2023
Dr Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ ClarkE
A consultant psychiatrist Jeff joined our two co-founders in 2015 as our third UK director. He then gave us eight years of incredible service, including as chair of our UK board for around half that time, until July 2023. He was generous in so many ways. We thank him for his stamina, wisdom and thoughtful brand of leadership. And we will remain forever in his debt.
Drs Melody ‘Melo’ Redman & Alexander ‘Xander’ Cary
A paediatrician and clinical genetist, Melo joined our UK board in 2018. Her new husband, trainee GP Xander followed suit in 2020.
They gave us five and three years respectively of highly engaged service. Then in July 2023 they stepped back following the birth of their first child. We thank them for their service.
Dr Amy Watson
A trainee GP at the time, Amy joined our UK board at the end of 2017. She gave us five years of loyal service and her quiet reflective wisdom was much appreciated. Her life changed and, after becoming a wife and mother as well as a busy inner-city GP, she resigned in early 2023. We thank her for her service.

…even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,”
it would not for that reason stop being part of the body…
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be?
1 Corinthians 12:14-17
